Disclaimer and Terminology

Disclaimer: The world of infertility is full of grossness and sometimes can be TMI for those not used to it. There are mentions of various bodily discharges, medical procedures and *gasp*, sex. And although I will try to not go into a lot of detail, I won't censor myself either. You've been warned. :)

For those not firmly entrenched in the world of baby making/infertility, you may be confused by some of the abbreviations in my posts. So here's a rundown of common terms I will likely use:

AF - Aunt Flo (menstruation)
BD - Baby Dance (having intercourse with the express intent to conceive)
BFN/P - Big Fat Negative/Positive (results from a pregnancy test)
CD - Cycle Day (the # of days from the start of a cycle until ovulation. Used like CD12)
DPO - Days Past Ovulation (self explanatory)
EWCM - Egg White Cervical Mucus (the most fertile mucus)
FF - Fertility Friend (website with charting and message boards)
LP - Luteal Phase (the back half of the cycle, or the 12-16 days after ovulation)
PCOS - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (one of the leading causes of infertility in women)
POAS - Pee On A Stick (to take a home pregnancy test)
RE - Reproductive Endocrinologist (doctor specializing in fertility treatments)
TTC - Trying To Conceive (not preventing & actively trying to have a baby)
